The EnviS project, in particular will transfer the experiences and technology from two Baden-Würtemberg systems: the Environmental Portal BW and the SmartResilience system to Serbia. The Environment Portal BW provides interactive and citizen-oriented, user-friendly applications for a wide scope of users, from citizen, over companies to institutions and other government bodies. The SmartResilience for assessing resilience and risks of critical infrastructures provides the possibility to assess and monitor environmental risks, resilience, and performance of critical installations, plants, and systems as possible sources of environmental and other risks. The main practical expected benefits of the project implementation include:

ENVIS GOAL - FULFILLING EUSDR PA5 TARGETS

To address the challenges of water scarcity and droughts in line with the Danube River Basin Management Plan – Update 2015, the report on the impacts of droughts in the Danube Basin in 2015 (due in 2016) and the ongoing work in the field of climate adaptation.

Provide and enhance continuous support to the implementation of the Danube Flood Risk Management Plan – adopted in 2015 in line with the EU Floods Directive – to achieve significant reductions of flood risk events by 2021, also taking into account potential impacts of climate change and adaption strategies

To continuously update the existing database of accident hazard spots (AHS Inventory), contaminated sites and tailing management facilities.

To support the assessment of disaster risks in the Danube Region, encouraging actions to promote disaster resilience, preparedness and response activities in line with thEuropean Union Civil Protection Mechanism.

Quick overview in the portal which is linked to details in the respective (specialist) system

LUPO is:

  • is a toolbox of frontend and backend components
  • has a (Micro) service-oriented architecture and users Cloud services
  • uses Liferay Portal as container of the Web application
  • benefits from sharing of licenses, operational costs, know how, etc.

PROJECT INSTITUTION PARTNERS



The Environmental Protection Agency, as a body within the Ministry of Environmental Protection, with the status of a legal entity, performs professional tasks related to:

  • Development, harmonization and management of the national information system for environmental protection (monitoring of the state of environmental factors through environmental factors, register of pollutants, etc.);
  • Implementation of state monitoring of air and water quality, including implementation of prescribed and harmonized programs for quality control of air, surface water and groundwater of the first issue and precipitation
  • Management of the National Laboratory
  • Collection and consolidation of environmental data, their processing and preparation of reports on the state of the environment and the implementation of environmental protection policy;
  • Development of procedures for processing environmental data and their assessment;
  • Keeping data on best available techniques and practices and their application in the field of environmental protection;
  • Coperation with the European Environment Agency (EEA) and the European Information and Observation Network (EIONET) , as well as other tasks determined by law.

Highlight of recent related activities:

  • FARMES - Calculation for determining the qualities of pollutants emitted into the air. Auxiliary excel file available for easier calculation of emissions (5.1 Broilers, 5.2 Hens, 5.3 Pig and sows)

Steinbeis Advanced Risk Technologies Group (R-Tech) is a cluster of business units belonging to and/or linked to Steinbeis. Over 1000 Steinbeis units are present in over 50 countries worldwide and they act as a global player in the area of innovation management and technology transfer. The “Steinbeis Advanced Risk Technologies” group of units deals with various aspects of risks, risk engineering and risk management, in:

  • power plants and energy supply
  • petro-chemical and process plants
  • material technologies, especially advanced material technologies
  • new & alternative technologies (CO2, H2, nano, …)

Main practical issues dealt with are:

  • risks in/of innovation (e.g. risks of unexpected side-effects)
  • risk of non-performance or performance below expectations (e.g. risks of system or component failures)
  • risk of adverse/unexpected effects and impacts (e.g. on public health and/or environment)
  • risks over the life-cycle of products and technologies (e.g. unexpected problems in decommissioning or recycling phase)
  • risk-based inspection (RBI)
  • reliability centered maintenance (RCM)
  • project risks, especially in innovation, R&D and new technologies oriented projects.

R-Tech is also one of the five founding members of  European Risk & Resilience Institute EU-VRi. The institute is an EEIG. The group is capable to cover the above topics either on its own or in close co-operation with Steinbeis network, European Risk & Resilience Institute (EU-VRi), Virtual Institute of Knowledge-based Multifunctional Materials, European Technology Platform Industrial Safety and other networks (all involving over 2,000 persons and over 500 companies)

The activities of the R-Tech group involve projects and activities on industrial, national, EU, and international level, tackling, e.g.:

  • integrated management of risk related to new technologies (e.g the iNTeg-Risk project)
  • smart resilience indicators for Smart Critical Infrastructures (SCIs) (SmartResilience Project)
  • standardization it the area of emerging risks and resilience, e.g. the CWA 16694 (DIN SPEC 91299:2013-10)
 


 

Steinbeis Hochschule Berlin (SHB) is a private university, which is founded in 1998. The university offers students and companies practice-oriented, extra-occupational higher education based on the project competence concept, leading to nationally recognized qualifications.

The research carried out by SHB focuses on issues with practical applications. The SHB portfolio of courses ranges from certification courses to degrees and doctoral programs. During the competence developing Steinbeis degrees students manage and implement projects in the company sponsoring their studies

The Steinbeis Transfer Institute Advanced Risk Technologies is part of the Steinbeis University Berlin and dedicated for risk management activities, as part of Steinbeis Advanced Risk Technologies Group. Building upon the success of the Group and its network of European, national and large-scale industry projects, the Institute is committed to transfer its know-how and holistic understanding to new generations of experts and leaders. The Institute for Automation and Applied Informatics (IAI) is a research institute of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) that is member of the Helmholtz Association (HGF). IAI conducts research and development in the area of innovative, application-oriented information, automation, and systems technologies for futureproof energy systems and complex industrial and laboratory processes. Interdisciplinary working groups conceive integrated systems solutions, with all development phases being covered from conceptual design to modeling and simulation, to prototyping, to practical testing, also under industrial conditions. Our work also gives rise to novel, reusable methods and tools for system building.

Work of IAI is embedded in the programs “BioInterfaces in Technology and Medicine”, “Energy Efficiency, Materials and Resources”, “Renewable Energies”, “Supercomputing & Big Data”, “Storage Systems and Cross-linked Infrastructures”, “Science and Technology of Nanosystems”, and “Technology, Innovation, and Society” of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and the Helmholtz Association of National Research Centres.

The Institute carries out projects in cooperation with partners from industry, administration, and other research institutions in Germany and abroad. Among others, the Institute is involved in projects of the EU, various federal and state ministries, the DFG (German Research Foundation), AiF (German Federation of Industrial Research Associations), and German industry. Members of staff of the Institute work in standardization bodies, specialized, expert, and program committees.
